Sunday School

Sunday School is a vital part of our life together at Calvary—so much so that we consider it part of the “three-legged” stool of our basic activities, along with Sunday worship and home groups. The reason is that this is the context where we can engage in an in-depth study of God’s Word in order to grow in “spiritual wisdom and understanding” and in “the knowledge of God” (Eph. 1:17). So this is so much more than “just a class” or an optional “add-on” to Sunday morning worship: we believe that every Christian is called to be a student of the Scriptures, and just as we worship together in our services, and fellowship and reach out together through our home groups, we dig into the Bible together in Sunday School.

Adult Sunday School classes cover a wide variety of subjects and formats. At least one course each term is devoted to the study of a book of the Bible, often in a discussion-style format. Some of the courses are topical, dealing with aspects of the Christian life, including our “core curriculum,” called Calvary U. We also periodically bring in guest teachers to focus on a particular subject.

Children and youth classes are also offered for all age levels—for more information see Children & Youth.
